Swirly Bird Thank You

I am in love with this card. Seriously, in love! And it was so easy and fun to construct! I took a lot of time on this one picking out the color palette, and I was pleasantly surprised through the process to discover some AMAZING color combinations. Bermuda Bay and Cherry Cobbler for a flower?!? Who knew?!?

For this project, I used the “stamp off” technique. It’s a super simple method that yields big results. Basically, you ink your stamp and stamp any number of times before re-inking. The image becomes lighter and lighter with each stamp. For this card, I stamped once lightly onto a scrap before actually stamping some of my images for the card.  It was a great way to soften the Bermuda Bay color on the base circle of my flower to help the bright Cherry Cobbler really stand out.

Inside of the card is stamped too!

Didn’t this card turn out great??? I’m super excited to showcase this one for you!

Here’s what you need to get started:

Stamp Sets:
  • Swirly Bird
  • Teeny Tiny Wishes

Paper:
  •  Early Espresso cardstock (119686) ---  5 ½” x 8" (for the card base)
  • Smoky Slate cardstock (131202) --- 1” x 3 ¾” (outside strip); 3 ¾” x 5 ¼” (inside of card)
  •  Serene Scene Designer Series: Brown w/ White Swirls – 1 ½” x 3 ¾” (upper portion of the card front); Wood Floor Chevron – 3 ¾” x 3 ¾” (lower portion of the card front)

Ink:
  • Bermuda Bay
  • Old Olive
  • Cherry Cobbler

Let the fun begin!
  1. Using the stamp off method, stamp the solid circle flower base from the Swirly Bird stamp set onto a piece of Smoky Slate cardstock in Bermuda Bay.
  2. Stamp the concentric swirled “rose” pattern in Cherry Cobbler on top of the Bermuda Bay circles that you just stamped.
  3. Using Old Olive, stamp two leaves onto a scrap of Smoky Slate cardstock using the larger leaf stamp from the set. Use the stamp-off method for one of the leaves, and stamp directly for the other.
  4. Carefully cut around your stamped roses and leaves leaving a slight border of smoky slate cardstock around the edge of each of your stamps.Glue your leaves to the back of one of your roses.
  5. Glue the Serene Scenery Designer Stack papers to the front of your Early Espresso cardstock used as your card base. Position the tan with white circles above the wood floor chevron.
  6. Stamp your “Thank you” from the Teeny Tiny wishes stamp set in Bermuda Bay onto the strip of Smoky Slate cardstock.
  7. Glue your stamped Smoky Slate to the front of your card - position where you prefer, making sure to cover the seam where the Serene Scenery Designer Stack papers come together on the front of the card.
  8. Glue one of the roses to the strip overlapping upper Designer Series Stack paper piece. Position the rose with the leaves to the outside edge of the card.
  9. Use a Stampin’ dimensional to adhere the second rose below and shifted to the right of the first rose, covering approximately 1/3 of the lower part of the upper rose.
  10. Adhere a pearl embellishment to the center of the rose petal swirl on each rose.
  11. With Bermuda Bay, use the stamp off method to stamp the small swirled roses to the upper left and lower right corners of your Smoky Slate cardstock piece for the inside of your card.
  12. Using Cherry Cobbler, stamp the small swirled roses directly on top of the stamped Bermuda Bay small roses that you just stamped.
  13. Glue your larger piece of Smoky Slate cardstock centered on the inside of your card.

You’re done! Way to go! Wasn’t that easy and FUN!
